Would You Go To a Job Interview in Your Pajamas?

April 7, 2013

Creating great first impressions through home stagingYou wouldn’t go to an important job interview in your pajamas, right, or leave the house without showering to go on a first date? So why sell your home when it’s not looking at its best?

It is always about first impression, whether it be an important job interview, a date, or selling your home.

Growing up, my grandfather always taught me that your first impression is everything, but I never really understood it until I got older.  Having worked for more than 10 years, in a Multi-National Pharmaceutical Company, taught me all about first impressions by dressing in nice suits, driving a shiny company car, and entertaining potential clients in fancy restaurants to impress them and win their business (talk about first impression), and it worked!

“People don’t buy for logical reasons, they buy for emotional reasons” – Zig Ziglar

Same goes when selling your home.  Working with a home stager is like having a fashion consultant to dress up your home in the best possible way for a greater chance of getting the best offer out there. More importantly, since buying a home is always an emotional experience, home staging can create that emotional connection buyers are looking for when searching their next home.

Don’t go overboard though; nothing is worse than being in a staged house that looks “staged”.  Your home should look stunning and functional; it should evoke a warm and inviting feeling to encourage buyers and shouldn’t end up looking like a “show room” filled with nice things.

So prepare your home for that first interview or first date with your potential buyers, and wow them through home staging and keep your offers rolling!
